Final Funday Sunday

Two things on the agenda for today:
1. Botanic Gardens
2. Opera House Open Day

The 377 came just as Mike was running out of the door of the Coogee Bake House with his cappuccino. Molly was worried about Mike missing the bus and about Mike bringing a drink onto the bus in spite of the no eating or drinking signs, but everything turned out o.k. and the caffeine did it's trick.

The most striking changes in the gardens since our very first visit were the roses and poppies and dianthus in bloom:

and our first view of the flying fox (big old bats) in person. Molly and Charlie met some stuffed ones on an earlier visit.

Garden Harmony
They discuss their plans for Daniel to live on a self sustained house boat, with a goat and internet access. He can dock periodically at Molly's coastal property.
Our plan to get to the 2nd Annual Open Day at the Opera House right as it opened was not a unique one. It's a big building so they could fit lots of us in quickly - even by a 5 year old's standards.
Our final bow in the Opera Hall.
Five Fam from the windows of the sails.

Same windows, from the veranda below. That's the reflection of a ferry in the harbor above the real kids.

Opera Diva in her fancy attire.

Concert Hall.
How long after her visit will they leave the name on the door?

This one's for your Grandma Cush.

A relaxing Sunday afternoon.

The weather was fine (we're finally bettering East Lansing's weather) so we hopped aboard the ferry with our Funday pass and headed for Darling Harbour - you know the one with the playground where Charlie rides solo on the big swing.
Today, there were about about 15 kids on that swing, with another 30 waiting for their turn. Can you spy all the Conlin children in the climbing thing?

All that and home in time for the New Zealand All Blacks versus the Australian Wallabies - World Cup Rugby semi-finals. Alas, the home team could not beat the All Mighty All Blacks. It was the first time we saw the Haka. Even Daniel broke away from his library book long enough to join us. Check it out on YouTube, if you don't know what I'm talking about: All Blacks Haka.

Molly asked what the difference between football and rugby was. Charlie, who has taken on the role of local expert on all things said, "In football you start the game by kicking the ball 90 feet. In rugby you start by throwing the ball at another guy's head."
