Weekend projects

We started by blanching and freezing 15 dozen ears of corn. The cooling process is perfected by wearing a robe, Bob the Builder pillow and slippers that look like claws (not shown, please use your imagination).

The next project started with a ball - a WhoHas softball to be exact. We added some packing tape and a string. There was a false start with some fishing line. Add lots of neighbors - some bring extendable brooms, some bring knot tying knowledge (supplemented by "the Dangerous Book for Boys" that has a chapter on such things), and AWAY WE GO!!!

This is a long overdue project. We're building mirrors (Thanks to Jeff) for the kids' bathrooms. "The Bob" is working with his dad, "The Wendy". Afterwards "The Bob" said, "The Bob needs a drink." You go The Bob.

PA one more time!

A pile of great grandkids on Grandma and Grandpaw's bench.
Daniel with Jack and Than at Idlewild.
This is either Willie Parker, or Daniel. My zoom wasn't working, so I'm not sure. Here we go Stillers, here we go!

Our Favorite Food for Bribing Small Children

Jelly Belly Tour in Pleasant Praire WI! We met O, Mike, Annie and Lou there too. Unlimited (or at least seemingly so) free samples at the end of the tour. Mike bought some vomit flavored ones for Daniel's friends.
Apparently, there are really long lines for the tour some days - this is the 45 minute line... I'm happy to report we're raising children who will still willingly pose for my camera.
Coleen, this one is for you!

More Chicago

Grandma Linda's house was a dream accomodation! Pool time, snack time, musical sleeping bag time. In this photo we're jumping after our day in the city. Julie, Libby, Lauren, Mike, Molly and Charlie were at the Shedd Aquarium. Then we all met and took the water taxi back to the train station for the commute out to the suburbs. What a day. Trains, taxis, dolphins, diving boards, sorting hats...

Harry Potter at the Museum of Science and Industry

Harry Potter!

The movie props are on tour, so Daniel and went to check them out. The highlight was Daniel being sorted into the Gryffindor house by the sorting hat. We also saw that the last line of Prof. Umbridge's decrees says "Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah..." No pictures were allowed in the exhibit, but that's a huge Hedwig on the front of the museum.

Chi-Town Millenium Park

Our first day in Chicago and we got a tour from the local celebrity Tom Conlin. Our first stop was Millenium Park. Can you tell the face is a fountain? If you're lucky, water "spits" out of her mouth. The bean sculpture reflects one and all. Lori Conlin provided excellent food and parking accomodations for us and and taxi service to the American Girl Doll store for Julie, Mom, Libby and Lauren. We're sheilding our children as long as possible. :-)
