Mike and Charlie did one last doctor's visit to get us some meds for the recurrence of Charlie's cough. We spent the afternoon in Paddington Market, a weekly market of arts and crafts. No purchases, but I was intrigued by the potholder skirts. Someone was trying one on while I was there, but I felt odd asking to snap a photo of her, so I settled for the ones on the rack.
We walked to the market with our friends from Madison, now Sydneysiders. The market is on the grounds of Paddington Public school where Sam and Ilan are in Year 5. Here are the 5 musketeers causing trouble.
We took our leave later that night after a feast and goodbyes until we find an economics conference to meet at :-) . The children parted with a stick war and no injuries.
We took the bus from their place to Bondi Junction, where the bus officials were checking to make sure we all paid. Of course, Mike could not find the ticket he used to get on the bus. Molly had pocketed it for her collection, but for a while, things didn't look good for the American in Oz. Maybe coincidentally or not, on our way to David and Erika's house earlier that day, 3 teenage boys tried to sneak on the bus without paying and the driver kicked them all off. Instead of expressing outrage at this behavior, Molly offered suggestions for how they could have been more successful. Hmm.
We quickly tucked the kids in (it was after 8PM!!) and Mike arranged to meet a woman who bought my bike - for asking price! Yeah! He sold his on Friday. Now, just piles of books and school work and other "stuff" to pack up before Thursday AM when we're off to New Zealand. Daniel and I are trying to finish The Hobbit before we leave, but it isn't looking good. We're all reading the Wizard of Oz (Aus?) together now with one more night before it looks like Dorothy will get her wish. I didn't know the shoes were silver in the book.
